In 2010, the Norwell Chamber board revamped the Business of the Year Award, and created different categories, this year we are awarding for Community Support and Entrepreneurial Spirit.
Community Support Award This award recognizes a business that has demonstrated civic and community service beyond normal responsibilities, creating a lasting and beneficial impact for all residents. The business should be one that sets an example for commitment to public service, while maintaining a strong business image.
Not Your Average Joe’s:Not Your Average Joe’s has been a twice participant in the Chamber-sponsored Taste of Norwell Event and most recently have supported the Norwell Public Library by donating a portion of sales from library users who bring in certificates obtained at the library.
Andrew G. Gordon, Inc.: Andrew G. Gordon, Inc. was one of our sponsors for the Friends of the Library spring fundraiser Appraisal Day. Their participation, however, exceeded mere monetary support.
Geoff Gordon, on his own initiative, publicized our event in Gordon’s winter newsletter, and on The Town of Norwell website,www.norwellma.com. Always responsive to any of our questions, always taking the extra step to help us, the Gordon Agency and its staff put words into action and made its support of The Friends and the Norwell Public Library a vital part of our event.
Geoff also does other community work behind the scenes, including teaching the Confirmation class of 8th graders at UCC Norwell, on Main Street, coaching Youth Soccer for over a decade, and helping to organize and run the Norwell Boosters Tennis tournament, where over $4,000 was raised for Norwell’s Boosters this fall. Geoff really loves this town, Norwell.
Any company or organization would do well to emulate the positive attitude and “can do” approach of Andrew G. Gordon, Inc.
Atlantic Insurance Advisers: Jeff along with Atlantic Insurance advisers continues to insert themselves into community affairs to in an effort to make Norwell a better place. It amazes me how Jeff works all his extracurricular work into his schedule. From Campus of Caring, business and family Jeff truly gives a well rounded effort.
He donates his time and resources to charities and events in need and enthusiastically solicits others to do the same. He is passionate in his pursuit to make a difference within the community and a tireless advocate for many worthy causes. I believe his consistent charitable nature and actions should not go unrecognized.
