The Norwell Chamber of Commerce will host its Annual Meeting and Business Awards Luncheon at Joe’s American Bar & Grill in Hanover (Merchants Row) onThursday, September 23 from noon – 1:30 p.m.

There will be a short program honoring the recipients of this year’s Entrepreneurial Spirit and Community Support Awards.  Installation of the 2010-2011 Officers and Board of Directors for the Norwell Chamber will also be held.

Cost is $25 per person for a hot buffet lunch.

3rd Annual Taste of Norwell – offering samplings from local restaurants & information on local businesses.

This community-wide event will be held at The Cushing Center, 673 Main Street Norwell from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.. Proceeds from this event will benefit their High School Scholarship Fund and the Norwell Food Pantry.

There will be a cash bar. This community-wide event is scheduled from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.

David Becker will be the DJ for the evening and will also provide live entertainment. Silent auction and raffle items will be available. This promises to be a fun-filled evening as well as a great way to support our local food service establishments, taste their wares, and meet with friends.

The Norwell Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Skip Joseph been chosen as their 2010 Citizen of the Year. Plan to join in the fun to honor Skip at a dinner at the Barker Tavern on Thursday, May 20.

Skip has served the community of Norwell for over 40 years participating on several Boards and Commissions. He was a key contributor to the success of the largest project the town has ever undertaken, the $54,000,000 school building project. His extensive knowledge and expertise in the building industry and his integrity and willingness to serve his town in so many capacities has earned him this year’s recognition.

The dinner to honor Skip will be held at The Barker Tavern, Scituate, on Thursday, May 20 with cocktails beginning at 6:00; buffet dinner at 6:45. Cost is $45 per person. At the Citizen of the Year Dinner, the Chamber also presents Scholarship Awards to deserving High School Seniors. Each year prior to town elections, the Norwell Chamber of Commerce sponsors Candidates’ Night where candidates for public office speak to citizens about their candidacy and relevant issues affecting the town.
Even when there are only a few contested offices, this tradition has allowed voters to find out where candidates stand on issues important to them and to the town.

At Candidates’ Night the following time guidelines for candidates’ statements will be followed:

Uncontested offices: Opening Statement – 3 minutes; Questions – 1-2 minutes, subject material allowing.

Contested offices: Opening Statement – 4 minutes;     Questions: 2-3 minutes, subject material allowing.

The order of presentation will be alphabetically by office.
