Spotlight – Pop-a-Lock

Give a brief description of your business. What product(s) or service do you provide, and what sets you apart from others?

Pop-A-Lock of Southeastern Massachusetts provides mobile locksmith services to Plymouth and Bristol counties. We are locally owned and operated – I am a Norwell resident and the business is based in Rockland, MA.
We specialize in automotive locksmith services and work with many car dealerships, mechanics and body shops, as well as the general public, to originate and duplicate keys, fobs and remotes for most vehicle makes and models. If your car keys have been lost or stolen, Pop-A-Lock can come to the car’s location to make and program a replacement key. All work is done on-site with our state-of-the-art cutting machines and programmers to get you back on the road and on your way quickly. No need to tow your car or visit the dealership.
We also provide residential and commercial services, such as rekeying locks to work with a different key, installing deadbolts, replacing hardware and servicing multi-point locking systems. We can create a master key system to assist with key control, install keypad locks and service commercial exit devices.

We are client-driven and take pride in offering a professional service to our clientele. We believe in providing an upfront price and 2-hour appointment window. Our vehicles are lettered and our technicians are uniformed in branded Pop-A-Lock apparel. We also continually invest in training classes and the latest technology to ensure that we are offering the best possible experience for our customers.

How long have you been in business, and how did you get involved in this business?

Pop-A-Lock of Southeastern MA launched in late 2015. Prior to bringing Pop-A-Lock to the South Shore, I held leadership roles in personal mobility, technology and specialty retail, working with companies such as Zipcar, Nintendo, The Container Store and The Home Depot. After more than 20 years of leading business units, driving growth and profitability and developing teams for highly recognizable and beloved brands, I wanted to apply my skills and expertise to build my own business. I investigated a wide variety of business opportunities and, after much research, invested in the Pop-A-Lock franchise.

This business combines many of the aspects that I enjoyed from previous my experiences – client interaction, the fact that each day brings something unique, my love of problem-solving and technology – and offered the opportunity to create my own goals and strategic plans, free from the constraints of a corporate hierarchy. It’s one of the best decisions that I have made in my career and I love the opportunity to assist people and continually challenge myself with personal and business growth.

Tell us an inspirational or humorous story about your business:

You’d be shocked at the number of calls that begin like this:
Me: Thanks for calling Pop-A-Lock.
Caller: Do you make keys?

If you could go back in time, would you change anything?

Absolutely not. I am not one for regrets and believe that every experience or challenging moment offers a learning opportunity. You just have to be willing to see beyond the frustration, disappointment or other emotion and find the lesson and grow from it.
